Excellent

Worth the while ...

Jimmy's Kitchen is one of those places where people from our parent's generation used to eat when they were in school or college. The joint is small, cute, and definitely nice.

The food is delicious. And i would definitely recommend to anyone who is even remotely interested in Indo-Chinese food ... Thankfully, the food is not authentic Chinese, and is among the best Indo-Chinese food you could get in any part of ... you guessed it, India! Especially the Wontons, the Fish and the Prawns are definitely wonderful, as is the Mixed Meat Fried Rice!

Mughlai ...

Karim's gives a totally different definition to Mughlai food ... the food here is definitely not for the faint-hearted, nor is it for the cholesterol watchers. But, if you are one to gorge, then Karim's is just the place. Its reasonably priced, and the food is wonderful.

While i have heard about the vegetarian food here, i can write only about what i have eaten ... And, all of them are amazing. First of all, the Rotis ... not the Tandoori Rotis you would be used to, but Khamiri Rotis ... soft and fluffy! Then, theres Mutton Qorma ... it is easy to see how Karim's have earned their reputation. Try the Mughlai Chicken ... with the Khus Khus based gravy ... this is a treat! My favourite, however, is the Nargisi Koftas ... as full of fat as you would like them to be, and deliciously cooked.

Somehow, however, the Kababs leave a lot to be desired.

Good

Worth a few visits

The Tomato Fry here is excellent. So is the Mutton Kurma ... But, the piece de resistance is the Grill Chicken, with the Chilli powder ... this is just wonderful, and if you are into fire-eating, please go ample on the chillies.

All in all, i settle for the Kurma, Coin Parottas, and Grilled Chicken when i go there. If the weather is not to your liking, theres the air-conditioned option on the first floor. And, that its open till quite late is another plus!

Excellent

Typical Kolkata Fare

The Mutton Rejala is the typical preparation, mouth watering, which you would expect in a self-respecting restaurant in Kolkata. The Punjabi Fish Curry comes as a surprise ... As does the Dal Makhani. All in all, its a nice take on Bangla-Punjabi fare. The service is very nice, and the cost is reasonable. Definitely worth a try!

Just two words ... Peter Cat!

The only words which can define the restaurant is the name itself ... Peter Cat! The time before last i was there, i tried the Fried Fish, and it was delicious, just the way one would like to have it. The last time i went there, i was wiser, and decided to stick with the old favourite ... Chelo Kababs. And, those are simply out of this world. I am sure there are other restaurants, especially if you are in Iran, which make amazing Chelo Kababs, but the ones at Peter Cat are just what i prefer.

Worth the visit, and the wait. Simply wonderful.
