This is a small eating joint in M block...just pass the Pizza Hut, it's there....tried Chicken Curry with Rice....Damage is Rs.70.
Chicken is cooked well, rice is not Basmati, little redish in color and medium sized grain. But definitely a VFM option at CP.

Excellent
I was supposed to treat my colleague Devashish and Bhumika over a lunch. Since we are located in CP, the choice was to go somewhere here only. They had the opportunity to choose the place, but they were undecided. So I took them to UCH, and they agreed it was just the right choice.
Connaught Place, probably the first organized shopping mall in India continuing till date with its grandeur. With it, some of those establishments that served the British Clientele are still in business. For restaurants, one of them is UCH. Undoubtedly UCH it doing their business with all it’s glory.
The main wooden door with frosted glass is the only distance between Connaught place and getting into an old world charm just picked from Piccadilly Square. Once you get in....you get the glimpse of that jaw dropping interior made in the "Art Deco" style. The hand curved wooden chairs will definitely remind you of some of the London Restaurants.
UCH serves equally good food to their decor. Not that costly...three of us....veg dishes....Daal Makahi, Sabzi Jhaalfreeze and Paneer Butter Masala...butter nun and some rice.... it was about Rs.1000/. I didn't try their Conti dishes considering my guest's choice.
Best thing is you pay in Indian Rupees only to experience a London ambiance!! Surely a Five Starrer!!

Poor
It was the August 15th afternoon, Connaught Place was all closed from the last evening because of the full proof "Bandobast" made by administration on the Independence Day.
By noon, only few food joints started opening...I thought this could be the ideal day to try out Jerry Wong's....there wouldn't be much crowd and the chef will take full care to make my meal.
I stepped in, as the only customer at 2.30 in the afternoon.....the waiter came to me and politely informed...."Sir, today is a Dry Day". Nodding my head I told him I am here for simple food...
The soup I ordered was mentioned as clear soup, what was served was a thick soup, the rice is medium grain, well cooked, the shredded lamb was a disaster!! It was chewy!!
I didn't see many customers there.
I read in an online article that Mr Jerry Wong was with "The Taste Of China"....not sure if he parted with and started this one of his own. My rating is 2 star...food is poor and overly priced. A soup, a rice and a lamb dish did cost me around Rs.500/. No comparison with "The Taste of China"

Pundit Gaya Prasad's paratha shop is a place in Chandni Chowk where you can be part of a history. Pundit Gaya Prasad started this shop at the Kinare Bazar in 1872!!
Yes!! it's hundred and thirty-six years old shop hidden inside a narrow lane in Delhi. If it had been in the US, already you would see Pdt. Gaya Prasad's great grand son is not only selling Parantha's but also started selling other merchandising like Paranthewali T-Shirt, Caps and Key-rings!!
But it's in India, and it can happen only in India....still you get Paranthas over here.....Alloo ki, Gobi ki, Muli ki, Tamatar ki, Papad ki, Daal ki, Kele ki, Mirchi ki, Kaju ki, Badam ki, Rabri ki....I think the list has about 40 odd verities of paranthas.
Made to your order, fried in Deshi ghee, Paranthas served in a thali with 'kaddu (pumpkin) ki sabzi', 'aaloo mattar paneer' (potatoes, green peas and cottage cheese in gravy) 'kele ki saunth' (slices of bananas in thick jaggery and dried ginger chutney) and pudina (mint) chutney.
Paranthas are priced between Rs.30 and 35/
The place is always full, if you get to manage to sit on those surprisingly narrow bench, you get a ticket to be part of the history.....look at those laminated photos.....Jawarharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, Indira Gandhi and Babu Jagjivan Ram having Paranthas here.....the list of high profile clients include Big B, King Khans and Singh is King...
Taste...Price...and ambiance (good that Archaeological society didn't know about this place) deserves a 5 star!!

You have to wait outside for sure, out of this small eating joint. Looks are unassumingly simple and is no indicator for the culinary delight you can experience once you get in.
Ask for Saag Meat or Meat Curry ( Rs.60/) and Roti (Rs.3/). You get well done mutton pieces cooked in Deshi Ghee, rotis are soft but rightly tandoored. Absolute Delight for your taste buds!!
Kheema Kaleji, Keema Curry, Chicken Curry all are equally good, you can have them with plain rice or even with the Pullaow also....
You hardly get any luxury for seating space, sit straight on the iron chairs, have your food without any elbow room and come out.
A must try for meat eaters.........
