Delhi's chic restaraunt now in Bombay!

The Very New York Deli white interiors and some great food.
Even the minimalist can enjoy a good healthy soup and half salad combos!

There sandwiches are really good and they also do offer to customize them to your liking or if your with your kids to their taste!

One area of improvement is definitely there deserts!

A good overall ambience for a heap dining experience!

Amazing Food, But Know What You're Ordering!

This was my first time there and I was totally clueless as to what to order. So between two people we ordered two starters, two main course and two desserts. Starters- Smoked Carrot and Ginger Vichyssoise , which is basically carrot soup. Its lovely, but I guess it takes time to get used to the bitter after taste. What I loved was the breads and butters they serve the soup with. Loved the beetroot butter! The second starter was The Greek Salad, as the name says it is served in an ancient looking stone bowl and lots of leaves in it! It tastes really good, the cottage cheese does wonders. But quantity of both starters was too much, could finish only half of each and were half stomach full.
For main course we had ordered the Green pea and Cottage Cheese Burger and "Mac n cheese" , the burger was HUGE and accompanied with fries and salad, it took two of us to finish it, and we had to ask them to pack the Mac N Cheese to take away.

For dessert we ordered 2 "Creme Brulee Of the Day" , it was basically a pudding with a caramel topping and was lovely! We could finish only one and asked them to parcel the other, but they said it couldn't be parceled, so we were like, let it be then. It was so sweet of them to replace it with a chocolate pastry and give that as a takeaway.

Oh and did I tell you the interiors are lovely and they also sell stuff like breads, muffins, etc.

Good treat for a birthday!

So this year I wanted to try some place I had never been and so Smoke house grill came on to the list.
A friend and I were going to go. My friend reached before I did and asked to arrange a special b'day treat. It was their Flour-less chocolate fudge. Amazing!
And what's more they did not include it in the bill. Their treat!!
We had the Tomato Mascarpone Risotto. Decadent. I had the Cherry and cinnamon tea infusion. Again superb.
The service was great!
All in all we had a great time and will definitely head back there sometime soon!

Excellent experience

We went there on a Monday with friends, the place was packed. We had to wait for 40 minutes to get a table. But it was worth the wait. The food was simply superb. The decor is very unique and the walls n coasters had interesting sketches. Our waiter was really helpful. He suggested a few dishes that we should try out n described them very well. We ordered the Sea food risotto, lamb shanks, pork tenderloin, grilled chicken..and simply loved it. We ordered the flourless chocolate cake for dessert which was delicious. Ordered another one! :)
Highly recommend this place.

MMMmmmazing!

Great place, lovely lovely white interiors with quirky stuff on the walls and shelves. Great service, and extremely innovative dishes. Love the tenderloin bites (it's like a gourmet non-veg sev puri) and the pastas are divine. Portions are more than generous, never manage to finish a serving. The only downside? difficult to get a table at lunchtime on a weekday.

Nice Ambiance, Food was "meh"

I wasn't particularly impressed by the food as much as I was with the ambiance. It's situated in the Phoenix Mills Mall, and there is a lot of movement outside the restaurant. However, once inside, the monochromatic decor is an interesting surprise. I really liked how they did the place up. The annoying part about Smoke House Deli is that it is hard to get a reservation, and often times if you show up sans reservation, then there is a long wait. However, the brunch menu was interesting, although I would personally go here for the ambiance and be paying for the ambiance. In terms of food, I could make some of the items they have listed at home and be happy with it!

My Husband and I are regulars at Smoke House Deli. We love it so much that since last year all birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated at Smoke House.
The Caprese Mushrooms, Peri Peri Chicken and Lamb Shanks are ALWAYS perfect. Their consistency and combination of flavours is remarkable!
Not just their food but their cocktails are also fabulous! The smoked melon martini is exquisitie.
The Philly Cheesecake is divine.
I must complement their super friendly and non pushy staff make great recomendations.
It is my absolute favourite restaunrant.

Smoke House Deli is a cool joint.

Pals and I come here quite often. My favourite is their mac n cheese, smoked pimento sandwich and the vegan burger . The ideal end to my evening is brought about by the delicately flavoured expresso`n` the creme brulee. Love the generous use of white colour in the decor, gives a nice bright look to the cafe..

Mean Steak

No matter whatever I write about the Tenderloin Steak that I had here, I won't be able to put it into words what joy I felt as I took a bite of the steak.

I usually avoid steaks, since I can never decide how I would want the steak to be done, but this one time I decided to go ahead and I wasn't disappointed. Not at all.

Verdict - I finished the vegetables too which accompanied the steak, considering how I am strictly non-vegetarian (yes, that IS a thing). So good.

One of my best Lunch experences

I do not get impressed easily as far as restuarants go, but when I do, it always lingers in my mind, making me wanna go back to the place!! Smoke House Deli was one such experience. The ambience, the caricatured/sketched walls, the simplicity and contemporariness was perfect! The food was delicious, good portion size...My friend and I had the Pan charred veggies sandwich, the tomato cream fettucine, the cucumber-mint cooler and the melon cooler...Everything was fresh and full of flavour. The staff knew their menu, were prompt and extremely courteous. We were seated on a table of four, when half way to the meal, the manager very politely asked us if we were ok with shifting to a table for two since there were guests waiting. We were totally cool with it, and jus for that he asked us to have dessert on the house!! :):) Even though we were stuffed with the awesome food, we had the most amazing flourless chocolate fudge....yummmyyy...

We had such a great time...Im looking forward to going back and trying the non-veg options now...

What a treat!

So I and my husband share our birthdays - and we just had a baby - so this was our first "date" in ages and we wanted to go somewhere special and splurge - we picked Smoke House Deli as a friend had been here and the place looked awesome - we were so not disappointed!!

You enter the place and it just takes your breath away - black and white interiors - very spaced out and the decor is beautiful.

We went there for lunch - ordered Crispy Panco strips - which were nice but would have preferred it to be a bit more spicy.

Ordered the Seafood risotto and the Lamb shanks which were so good! The risotto was creamy and the shanks melted in your mouth - never had anything like this before.

The desert was on the house thanks to our birthdays :) The flourless chocolate fudge - again a melt in the mouth dish and worth every bite!

The service was impeccable as our server knew everything on the menu and the maitre de was kind enough to keep checking on us!

Overall a wonderful experience - a little heavy on one's pocket but totally worth it!

Cibo Fantastico ...

Smoke House Deli comes from a good pedigree and doesn’t disappoint. Skeptical at first, the whole experience was a sheer delight – in every aspect. A beautifully done up restaurant in Black & White theme, it’s ‘different’ and inviting... Perfect & attentive service, an excellent host (the Duty Manager) who personally got us to enroll in their loyalty program (the first I have come across), a decent selection of wines and most important – amazing food - in the middle of a busy mall, you have a winner !!

We ordered a Sangria and Riesling to start with the latter available in glass, a delight compared to other stand-alone restaurants who offer only the local Sauvignon & Chenin Blanc varieties. We had a movie to catch at the nearby PVR, so were hard pressed for time and no possibility of an antipasti. The bread basket (or should I say an innovative brown sack) came without prompting and a nice variety of warm breads in it. For main course we ordered Pasta and Smoked Lamb Shank … I am not sure whether it was on account of us rushing them or a screw up, the pasta came in well before the lamb and my wife kept cribbing about eating ‘alone’. We forgot all that once the dish came in after a wait of about 20 mins. By far, it was one of the slow cooked lamb dish I have had in ages and boy, did I forget about the movie. Perfectly cooked, with the meat falling off the bones in an amazing tasty sauce … every bit was consumed with the respect it deserved. Served with vegetables, I could not resist dipping my bread into the sauce and finishing off the entire plate.

We will definitely be back, with enough time in our hand to try out the other dishes and the lamb again. Deserts were average with the cheese cake disappointing a little. Would highly recommend the place to all …

Ciao !

Likeable (but short of 'Great')

I visited Smokehouse Deli for weekend lunch with a few relatives.

Service: 5/5 (because of a specific incident)
Ambience: 4/5
Food (Taste): 3.5/5
Portion size: 3/5
Plating: 4/5
VFM: 3.5/5

Reached there around 3ish and were told that we have a 15-minute wait, and then the courteous maitre d' returned to tell us that we'd actually be seated in less than 5. Great! Under-promise and over-deliver works for me.

We got seated at a corner table and looked around. The design is very innovative, and it works. They've painted everything white and then let some reasonably skilled kids do their thing with black Sharpies. The white gives the place a feeling of space. It's not a very large restaurant, but they've taken care to space out the tables so each table gets reasonable privacy. That's good too.

Service -- Top marks for service, especially because of something that happened. They give you this 'brown batuwa (sack)' filled with assorted bread + butter + other aioli. My family loved the breads, especially the small sesame topped buns, and we asked for a repeat. They got us some more bread. My fam loved em so much we asked the waiter if we could buy some from them to take home. He replied that they didn't sell the bread but he said he could pack some for us. And he did. That is a touch one doesn't see in Indian restaurants, and yet, that is the touch that makes winners and retains regular customers!

Food -- This is the part that is Good but short of Great.
They serve water in carafes that contain slices of orange and mint sprigs. However, the flavor didn't carry through to the water. Those things need to be changed often.
For appetizers we got the seafood fritters (good but not great; the aioli was missing a 'hit' factor) and the chicken satay (ummm, good). For any appetizer, the aioli needs to be distinctive. SHD misses on that count. For benchmark, try the beer batter fried veggies at Indigo Deli. They give you three aiolis to go with that. One word for em - STELLAR.

For the mains, we ordered the seafood risotto (though, it appears, the mushroom risotto is more popular; I'd still go with the seafood one), and the penne pasta (one of my relatives wanted it; I never order pasta). The smoked lamb shanks and the rawas looked more inviting. Unfortunately, we wanted to avoid feeling stuffed and let them pass.
The seafood risotto is very good but falls short of stellar or Great or Incredible. The prawn, rawas chunks, and calamari in it are tasty but the actual rice (the arborio) falls short. I believe they need to source better quality rice. And I'd suggest two drops of truffle oil to make it Fit for Gods.
The penne pasta, well, it was as good or as bad as a pasta can be. I've never been a penne guy, so...
Portions - For the price, I think the portions should be larger. How much larger? 10-15% more?
They do a good job with plating. Loved their choice of plates to serve the food in. The balsamic vinegar + sugar reduction was also well done.
VFM -- The total tab came out to ~2300 (including tax + 10% service charge aka tip). At 800 bucks a head in Mumbai, that's reasonable VFM.

Will I go back again? Yes, to try the Rawas and the Lamb Shanks. Hear their burger and steak are good too!

A great place for coffee or a meal

I've visited Smokehouse a couple of times - sometimes for a cup of coffee and cheesecake, other times lunch or dinner and its always been good. The ambience too is ideal and the staff does not rush you to order. On my last visit, I tried the Tangerine Mojito which was really good. We also ordered a Peri Peri chicken starter and a cheese jalapeno toast. The John Dory main course was particularly done well and even the Ravioli didn't disappoint. We had a Philly cheesecake for dessert and for some reason they warmed it which changed the texture. But the staff did replace it with a cold one when we complained with no extra charge.

Smoking good

The closer the place, the more difficult to make time is my belief. Had been meaning to visit this place immediately after it opened, but just could not make time. Then a colleague’s birthday came up and it was unanimously decided to try out Smoke house deli.

We were lucky to get bookings on a Saturday afternoon, given the fact that it is always crowded. The first impression on entry just knocks you out. A wonderful ambiance, with murals on the walls, antique look and a huge desert shelf facing you.

Since there were 10 of us, with equal vegetarian and non vegetarians, we managed to try substantial amount from the menu.

We tried the mushroom soup as well as a chicken soup, which was nice and just right accompanied by the bread basket, which they refilled without being asked to.

The sandwiches and risotto for the vegetarians was good, whilst the Basa in a couple of different forms hit just the spot. Those who tried the tenderloin were quite impressed. Then came the clincher. The desserts - enough said - all the four including mud pie were sinful and to die for.

This is one place that I need to visit a couple of times before I am satiated, having tried most of the menu.

A refreshing and satisfying experience

The decor is really nice, very different from any other place in the city. Courteous staff. we ordered the tuna sandwhich and the veg burger. Both were very good, the fries that came on the side were probably the best ive had anywhere for a long time. It's obvious that the team at smoke house deli are trying to do something very different here and raise the standards of casual dining in the city, which i feel they definitely have. I hope they keep this up and maintain their quality.

I think right now they are definitely a notch above indigo Deli, at least based on the food that i had ordered there. Less oily and more fresh.

A restaurant worth visiting

Really enjoyed my meal at Smoke House Deli. Its a restaurant recommended for repeat visit. The meal was started with a bang with yummy cocktails and the Big Cheese Platter. For the main course we were a little confused so we tried the staff recommended Peri Peri Chicken and the Lemongrass Rawas and I am glad we took their recommendation both the dishes were delicious. The meal at SHD would be incomplete without their desserts and their Flourless Chocolate cake didn't dissapoint. All in all a great meal and I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant.

Brilliant Place

Been here on 02nd April nite - waiting was more than 1 hour but Glen (Manager) was more than kind, polite & friendly about it. He actually remembered my husbands name as we had booked a table almost 2 months ago - but when we were called back for the table - we already had dined elsewhere. This incident happened 2 months ago - so remembering the name was a task - but shows attention for finer details. Finally when we got our table for 6 we were very sportingly guided to a table for 6 people while we were only 2 of us. Shows that they value their clients which makes yr dining experience extremely lovely.
The white interiors are beautifully done - so lots of finer details to appreciate until the food arrives. The Bread basket was excellently presented..-nothing can beat freshly baked bread. So it was a great filler. Ordered the Veg Artichoke Crostini which was great in presentation & taste.
We ordered their signature mocktail which was Kiwi, Lemon, Jasmine etc which was their Fruit infused signature drink which was wholesum with fruits & great in taste..Incidently the Jasmine flower in the drink also matched my name.
Had ordered a Mushroom Rissotto which was splendid in taste, presentation. Also ordered a Wild Shitake Mushroom Lasagne which was again brilliant in texture & taste...Undoubtedly the most enjoyable, best presented & extremely tasty Veg food. Given the exotic nature of each dish - the service time & service was brilliant. Casey our server was with a genuine smile thruout & good with recommendations.
Overall neatly priced but the taxes are seriously criminal. But great food & experience...will surely be visiting again.
Loved the place, the service, food...Glen makes the wait time bearable & thats the first impression the client gets of being valued...so it was a pleasant experience though we had to wait for more than 1 hour.
Definitely going back for more.

Bouncer at the Door

It has undoubtedly caught the fancy of the SoBo crowd, but just cant figure out why the host (tonsured head/ brown glasses) carries so much attitude. He sure is the Bouncer around, rushing people through their dishes and orders, giving tables near the entrance stating that the inside tables are reserved (all of them!!) and in fact pepping himself up everytime he sees the billing computers!! Whats with it, maan!! You running a restaurant or a race.

The guy enquires on desserts while we are still munching on the entrees!! Huh!!

On the food side - it is undoubtedly exceptional, we've tried the Greek Salad (very fresh & crunchy), German sausage hot dog, chicken burger, tomato clear soup and chicken soup with thyme, smoked chicken sandwich and pimento sandwich. They have a winner here.

Most dishes were costing approx. Rs. 300 - 500 range, and the portions are large.

The white ambiance is refreshing and bright - a welcome change from most other places with dark loungish interiors.

Service is amateurish - waiters around, but roaming nervously. Will need a bit of training. The Bouncer can also do with some basic etiquette training.

Welcome to Mumbai, after the success of Delhi, but keep the attitude there.

Good food, indifferent service

Went here yesterday at about 6 pm after a movie at PVR.

Was mostly empty - I guess due to the time we went at- decently done up though I would have liked some natural light coming into the restaurant.

Greek Salad and a Veg pimento sandwich were both quite nice and set us back by Rs 620. A nice tough is that they put a slice of orange and mint leaves in their water containers so it gives a refreshing feel to the water.

What I found missing was that though technically everything was ok - there was something missing. Our sandwich took half an hour to arrive and that too when it was not crowded at the restaurant. What I found missing was that the waiters, though when summoned did whatever was asked, they seemed rather indifferent and non-smiling. The small touches do make a difference in a dining experience.

All in all I would say - the food is good and it is a nice place, around 25% cheaper than indigo deli - but if I have a choice I would choose indigo deli.

Good food

A friend and I were in Phoenix last evening and landed up in Smoke House Deli to try the offerings. We were not disappointed. The food was very good with decent portions and well made. The smoked pimento crostini was amazing as was the spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli. The friend tried chicken pasta and though a bit on the sweeter side was nice.

We had 2 non alcoholic drinks which were nice after some modifications. The winner however is the complimentary bread served at the start of the meal. I have yet to have a more superb focaccia yet.

In short, the food, service and ambiance were all great. We ended up paying 1800 between the two of us (without desserts and alcohol) which is pretty decent considering the rate at other similar restaurants.

Don't Eat..Just Drink

The ambiance is great, loved the look and feel of the place. But the food, excepting the mushroom risotto, left something to desire. Couldn't believe they had only one veg burger option on their menu, it is a deli for crying out loud.
Cocktails & Appetizers are the saving grace of this place especially the Green Apple Sangria made up for the disappointing entrees.

Comfort food

It was the last day of my friend's year long stint in Mumbai. After a very lazy start to the day, we decided to have a late lunch at Smoke House Deli. We wanted to eat something nice and not too heavy.
I started with a smoothie, which was simply amazing, there was no added sugar and the taste was all natural. It would be perfect if i had told them beforehand not to add any ice.
It was already 16:00 hrs when we got there and I wasnt feeling like eating a main course so I ordered an eggs benedict with Norwegian Salmon and my friend ordered the soup and half sanwich combo-tomato and lemongrass soup and herbed chicken sandwich.
We were surpised when the food arrived since the portions were bigger than expected.
The food was awesome!!! The eggs were simply superb, I normally do not like the puff pastry, but with the eggs and salmon it tased perfect.
The soup was thin but extremely tasty, delicately flavoured with lemongrass.
The sandwich was nicely made on whole wheat bread and the combination of the soup with the sanwich was a perfect meal for diet concious individuals.
It was exactly what I call 'Comfort Food'.
We ordered a creme brulee for desert, the flavor of the day was chocolate. It was quite nice.
We have already planned our next visit to Smoke House Deli and eagerly looking forward to it.

Great Decor & Food

Very tasty food, and awesome interiors.

I had a unique experience - I ordered for a Veg soup.
By mistake, they served me a non-veg soup. I didn't realize it until I had 4-5 spoons of it.
Being a strict Vegetarian, I was disturbed that I just had non-veg stuff. I told the waiter about it.
In a few minutes the manager appeared. He apologized profusely, told us that the meal was complimentary and gave us a dessert to make us happy.

Mistakes can happen by any restaurant. It's how they resolve it that matters.

I will certainly go back there.
(PS: Their mustard sauce is brilliant)

Amazing Everything

Smoke House Deli is the new Deli at Phoenix Mills.
Starting with the decor and ambience. All done up in white gives a spacious feel to this mid size joint. The tables are far enough so that you cant really accidentally eavesdrop. Has a very distinctive comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in a rather crowded and buzzed location.
Moving on the beverage menu. They have an interesting menu which is two sided. One is the wine list and the other regular drinks. The wine stock is limited to a more Indian fare with very few international options.
Their regular drinks menu has a wide variety of cocktails in almost all varieties of alcohol. We sampled the mojitos and absolutely loved them. They were potent enough which is a welcome change to normal watered down cocktails at most other places. They stock almost everything from beer to liqueurs.
They have a wide variety of appetizers with more non vegetarian options than vegetarian ones. We tried the smoked pimento and jalapeno crostinis. They were fantastic. What makes the food even more delicious is its presentation. The place definitely scores on its presentation. They had a delicious bread basket on the house which can be refilled. They actually serve bread in cute little bread bags.
We ordered a penne pasta and potato mash. Both were top notch. The mash potatoes were more than just a blob of boiled potatoes. The pasta was excellent much better than a lot of top notch italian places.
The desert is where the winner came along. The plum and philly cheese cake is probably the best I've had in the city.
They have a wonderful service crew, all very sweet and helpful. Extremely prompt and efficient.
The meal for two came to 2500 which is fairly acceptable for the food and the service.

Good food, lousy service

It just might be that I was unfortunate enough to land up at Smoke House Deli on the wrong night, because it happened to be the night a well-known food "critic" (you know the kind) was there with her entourage and the management seemed to be rather tense as a result. To cut a long story short, the food was rather good, (we had the tenderloin steak and mushroom risotto)and well-presented, but I was not at all happy with the service and the general attitude of the staff.
Our orders took nearly 30 minutes to arrive, without any apology. I wish I was the rude, loutish type of customer who threw fits and demanded to see the manager at the slightest provocation, but unfortunately I am not. And anyway, one officious-looking guy seemed to have the least customer-friendly attitude of the lot.
Yes, we understand that you need to get your fake reviews, but please spare a thought for your paying customers as well.

mind boggling ambience worth visiting

I had been here on saturday afternoon, as we entered the place we got the table for two post 27 minutes wait , they don’t take reservations beyond 1300..
The table was situated just near enterance
, i was not comfortable with so i asked the well built host to allocate me some other table but then he told me there are lots of people waiting for large table and only this table for two is available.
I was fine than..
. Staff hemant as he announced himself was very polite with us and also helped us with menu.
We ordered.
for one sea food fritters : must try stuff.
basa nice one.
Steak medium to rare , i loved it.
apple celery carrot combination juice .. I was floored
Lemon ice tea my wife liked it. i didn't.
It should have a waiting area , as its hyped up now…

What i like was great ambiance, great food and service was quick. Will sure visit for the next time. it deserves it. Meal for two cost us for almost 2500 thousand bucks.

Must Have Ordered Wrong

I love the juices on the menu. We tried the Arugula, apple and something else juice and the carrot, beetroot and something juice....loved them both! Wish I'd seen the Sangria selection before ordering the juices, I would have loved to try the fresh fruit Sangrias because most places just add apple and lemon, but this place seemed to be using a good selection of seasonal fruit. The plain Garlic Bread was delicious. I'd asked for a Ravioli with aspharagus and burnt butter and sage, expecting a light burnt butter sauce, but my ravioli was swimming in a cheesey white sauce, not what I had expected at all, but was good, a little less sauce would have been great! We'd also ordered a cold sandwich, I think it was the roquette, pimento, tomato with brie one. Didn't expect it to come grilled as the menu said cold sandwich. Didn't taste as good. Should have tried something else, maybe. Couldn't resist ordering the red velvet cake and it was truly delicious. Service was good.

for smoked dishes!!!

Drawing a Crowd

It’s like an artist was killing time at a deli, absent-mindedly doodling ladles and bagels, pets and baguettes on one of its walls. When this earned him his bread (and meat and cheese) at the deli, he decided to sketch the rest of the house as well. That’s what we imagine must have happened at High Street Phoenix’s new Smoke House Deli, the latest offering from Impresario (team behind Salt Water Cafe and Mocha) where sketchy walls, bright red chairs and snow-drenched artefacts make for a pretty picture. We only wish the shaadi-like orchid centre pieces could be painted over.

Coolers Just Got Cooler

we visited yesterday on opening night to find Bandra’s Salt Water Cafe team working the new mid-town scene. The menu here is extensive, part of it catering to suits and shoppers in a hurry (sandwiches and ready-to-eat salads), the other half to those with the luxury to linger. We’re happy to report that last night we belonged to the latter. And so our order started with glamorous glasses - a passable apple-cardamom iced tea; a marvellously muddled kiwi-melon-jasmine lemonade which garnished with an orchid, looked like it had been caught mid-vacation; a refreshing liquid salad-like cucumber-basil-lavender lemonade (our favourite); and a fiery carrot-pineapple-ginger fresh juice that can wake up the sleepiest head. These yum drinks almost made it okay that Smoke House Deli won’t start serving alcohol for another fortnight.

Morning After Dill

The all-day breakfast bit of the menu evokes flashes of Salt Water Cafe with fluffy omelettes, salmon bagels and apple buttermilk muffins. We started with cheesy scrambled eggs - so flavourful it needed no garnish, but we added ham - which turned up in a truly superior warm, flaky croissant. Our simplest, but best order for the night. Next, we dug into the cold sandwich section to find whole wheat bread toasted to perfection, enveloping poached pears that went well with cheddar, scamorza and emmental cheese. This we teamed with grape and fig salad where the vision of purple grapes, taste of sugary-smoked figs and audible crunch of iceberg lettuce was a treat for many senses. Those looking for a quick and well-priced lunch can even do a soup (smoked carrot-ginger, tomato-lemon grass) and half sandwich (Rs 150) meal or a burger and hotdog.

For mains, we got the house tenderloin, Cambodian bassa and smoked mushroom risotto. The tenderloin, medium rare, was juicy and evenly cooked despite the thick cut, its taste padded by the layer of horse radish it sat on (it was a tough choice between this and the tenderloin cheese rosemary burger). Vegetarians can pick from a selection of pasta, but we suggest the dark mushroom risotto, smoked to just the right amount of sexy. It’s safe to say though that that the pan seared lemony bassa bathed in a stunning saffron-coloured roast garlic sauce was the best looking of the lot with taste to match. If you want to take the bassa (steak or chicken patties) home and make it your way, stop by the marinated meat and gravies counter on your way out.

Where There's Smoke

Our meal ended with a strawberry-white chocolate torte that could have been heavier on the fruit and one of us needing a smoke, an act that required a trek up to the third floor. “We have plenty of smoked dishes right here,” Edmund, our super server for the night said. “Besides, isn’t it time we all quit smoking?” Wise guy, that Edmund.

Great eating experience

After having been sent away from the door three times for not having a reservation, one would think that I would lose interest in the restaurant and move on with my life....
however, me being me had to try out the place and see for myself what is it that made everyone flock to this place.
So , along with a foodie friend, we decided to try this place at about 12.15 pm on a Saturday (I am still very bad when it comes to making reservations) hoping that the saner public would come in only later. And I was right !!!!! We managed to get a seating immediately.
Now to the food....

Both of us being meat lovers (specially pork) we decided to start with a mushroom soup and the meat platter. This basically consists of a collection of cold meats (pork mainly) arranged in a very aesthetic manner. The meats were quite exquisite and the accompaniments (olives, breads, etc) complemented the meats extremely well. The soup was exquisite and at just the right temperature too.
Having satiated our meat urges partly, we decided to split the chicken burger between us which left us with just the right appetite for the dessert. The chicken burger was succulent and tasty and can be easily compared with the great burgers of Hard Rock Cafe (My personal favorite when it comes to Burgers).
A great eating experience and will be going back .... hopefully with a reservation this time.....

Smokin! A pligrimage for my food worship.

Smoke house deli- to begin with the interiors, very creative! They took quite a risk giving it a' black marker pen on white paper' look. Very quirky but sheek at the same time. We began the beuatiful journey with a thick creamy mushroom soup. It was topped with a bit of basil sauce which was a brilliant touch and genuis in its simplicity. The falvors all very so yum and complementary. The next stop was tomato and mascorpene cheese rissotto- it was delightfully creamy and not too tangy. Cooked to perfection! The ribbon pasta- (apologies that I do not know the actual name) with basil sauce and bell papers was pretty decent. But I guess when others dishes are beyond excellent, just excellent doesnt cut it! For dessert our final pit stop we had hazelnut mousse cake, which was good but I wanted more. I wish they hadnt used Ferrero Rocher chocolates for base. Hazelnut cake in itself was very good. The journey was a very pleasing experience one reminding me of an easy going vacation. A journey ai hopr to do many times during my food pligrimage!

Near perfect always

I've been a long time fan of the food here, but writing a review for the first time.
There are several things I like about SmokeHouse Deli:
-The minimalist (and WHITE!) decor
-The knowledgeable and non-pushy staff - perhaps the most important factor in
my repeat visits as I like to take my time when I eat and people pushing to either
clean the table or to order the desserts etc is just annoying, at Smokehouse that
has never happened and I appreciate that.
-The food! - The food's always fresh and delectable.

On my most recent visit, I trusted the daily special as I normally do and ordered the Fish of the day with cous cous and beet root while my friend ordered lamb shanks (Always perfect!)
The fish was delicious, so much so that even though I was full , I kept wanting to eat more :)
And of course a visit to the Deli is incomplete without the drool worthy cheesecake, but I was really full, so I had to share the cheesecake (picture enclosed) but it was a great meal.
I will be back there soon for sure!

Nom Nom..

A nice place to grab a quick bite before you head for a movie at PVR Phoenix. Simple decor, well lit, light airy feel and yet sophisticated in some ways. My friends and me were in a rush so we din't bother to soak in the ambience and ordered right away. We explained to the server that we were running late for a movie and needed our meals served ASAP and they obliged! Full marks for prompt service. We ordered 3 things - A pulled pork burger ( mixed feelings...I wasn't too impressed with it.The flavour just lacked some punch though the pork was cooked perfectly and retained it's juiciness ) served with an interesting mango relish and spiced fries , Bacon wrapped chicken with a sausage stuffing served with a side of dressed salad ( the chicken was a tad bit over cooked and hence dry, but the sausage filling and the fabulous sauce partly covered up for it) AND Sauteed tenderloin strips with Shiitake mushrooms (STAR dish of the evening. I will be going back for this). We simply gobbled our food and paid our bill (about 1700 total) and left. Talk about khao, piyo, khisko!

deli

The waiting staff was really prompt and efficient and got us a table pretty quick despite it being a busy night. They have good variety on their menu and the chef is really good. The food was extremely yummy. we were served vaguely warmed bread with herbed butters. Paprika puffs were bang on (did seconds), the smoked mushroom risotto had great earthy mushroom flavours but lacked the texture and richness of good starchy rice and parmesan.

Great food but.....

My husband and I ate here once and the food is really good. But after that whenever we tried to reserve the place the receptionist Gladden was very indifferent, which was rather disappointing. Service done right!

This is the place other restaurants need to come and learn about how restaurant service needs to be! My second visit here was better than the first one. Salim, Rahul and Lawrence did everything they could to make sure every aspect of our meal was perfect. Even in the case where we ordered something we didn't actually intend to order due to a communication lapse, they handled the situation extremely professionally. Not only was the entree replaced but they also served us a salad while we waited for the new entree. I have yet to see such a genuine staff in Mumbai. Kudos! In terms of the food, my only suggestion is they should consider improving the quality of the hamburger buns served to match the quality preparation and presentation of their burgers. Other than that, the meal experience there is one of the best in the city! Highly recommended!

this place as some one said does give indigo a run for its money. Though havent tried the desserts here, indigo does have blissful desserts. but for what ever food i tried ( vegetarian ) was delicious.

The veg burger , the ravioli , spaghetti everything was top notch.

Cant wait to go again in a bigger group so i can try everything that i wish to try.

O and dont forget to have the watermelon and mint juice its fresh and soothing.

For the portions and quality of food i think its value for money.

Expect to pay at-least 700 a head and upwards

Delicious & worth every penny!

Staying true to the Delhi outpost, Smoke House Deli serves lip smacking European cuisine.. The Pastas are perfect and the Peri Peri roast chicken is flavorful and succulent..The decor and ambiance is understated yet classy..Its really perfect for lunch, dinner, or anything in between..A meal for 2, sans alcohol, would set you back by approx INR 1500..I still adore Indigo Deli, so next time around, its going to be a touch choice :/

The evolution of Mumbai's Food life

Ambiance.check. service.check.food.check.

If you want to spend casual dinner with your special someone. Or just catch up with old friends, I really recommend this place.
The ambiance is one of the best I have seen in a while now. I loved the white decor and the little detailing on the walls.
I am a vegetarian so usually I dont get many options on the menu, but this had quite a lot of great stuff. For appetizers, I had Aubergine and mozzarella fritters, (the paprika puffs looked great too when being served to the adjoining table). The drinks menu was also impressive.
I dont know if i ordered the wrong thing or not but the main course was just OK. It was the wild mushroom crepe. It didn't have much flavor.(Thats why the one less star).
But the dessert made up for it. We had the flour less chocolate fudge...which was just divine.
The whole thing cost around 1600. The service was fantastic. All in all I am extremely happy I chose to go out to eat here

Mixed Feelings

I had a good meal at SHD, but there were a few pointers that I was very disappointed with.

1) My Chicken and pomello salad had no pomello, it had orange segments instead. I had asked beforehand the water about the salad and he didn't even bother telling me that they didn't have pomello or anything.

2) Once chicken strip had a part of it which was pink and raw - this is extremely dangerous for chicken since you can get salmonella.

3) My napkin was dirty and even asking them to change the napkin twice, the third napkin given to me had a stain on it.

4) This is a really small point, but I'm still not happy with it and want to bring it up because it is a matter of ethics. My bill was 690 including service charge and I asked the waiter to give me the money in change as I was splitting the bill with a friend. The waiter gave me 10 rupees less back as change.

I realized the change was lass only after I'd left, and tried to send a discreet mail to SHD management so that internally they could make changes and improve as I really like the place, food and service was good. However, in the absence of a direct contact, I have to send this out here.

Never Never on a Monday

My experience (very bad). But after seeing so many nice reviews and that too such nice stuff is said about the place (genuine or not I do not know). I think Maybe their Chef is off on Mondays or maybe as it was 11 pm they were in a hurry to shut.
I saw patrons who looked well traveled. Then how come they accept rubbery and chewy Penne pasta which a 10 year old child can churn out. After complaining they have the audacity to microwave the dish and then get it in such an ugly state that it was terrible.
The burger which the waiter suggested was told, I do not like sour stuff. the burger was with chunks of meat and so sour as if it was dipped in vinegar. I mean come on how can you like and praise such food. Even after complaining they were not ready to get the Manager to talk to us. (Oh it was a Monday so maybe NO Manager ha!)

Need: A marker to scribble good things on the wall

Before I even get into the food, it would be a shame really if I didn't wax eloquent about the awesome decor. It makes me want to be given a marker and let loose so I can scribble stuff on the wall and poke all those fake things around the place. (I sooo want to furiously tap the keys of that typewriter.) Anyhoo, the food is awesome. One, because they have some nice, fresh combinations. Two, because the quantities are decent. The mushroom risotto deserves a special round of applause. It is absolutely drool-worthy. A little on the expensive style but loved it very much. Okay, now can I have the marker?

must eat here

Being a food lover, when i came to bombay i was looking for nice places to eat. I had heard about this place and read good reviews online. So while i was in the vicinity, i decided to have a quick bite here.
Albeit we were asked to wait for 30-40 mins for the place was crowded, the wait was worth it.
I was really impressed by the ambience. I personally prefer to be able to look at my food while i eat it, so i liked the fact that the place was well lit.
The place was well spaced out. I really liked the concept of 'deli style' display of the deserts.
The fact that the illustrations were done free-hand- gave it a personel touch.
From the coasters to the walls to the menu to the music everything totally blended with the feel of the place.
the food and smoothie we ordered was really good..
The steward was well-informed, was warm and the service was prompt. Despite the crowd, we dint really have to wait much for our food.
I would definitely want to go there again with more of my food loving friends.

Pathetic... worst experience ever... After specially mentioning that I am a vegetarian and reconfirmed the vegetables for pasta...they serve a red sauce pasta with chicken pieces. On complaining the waiter says that he thought I am non vegetarian because everyone else on the table is ordering non veg... seriously man! instead of being sorry for the mistake they have the balls to justify their mistake... never gonna step in this place again...

Pure bliss!! Sunday lunch fully vasooled :D

Started off with their bread basket and dips – YUMmmm!!

Moving on to one of the best Smoked Lamb burger in town (sadly my other favorite – Indigo Deli doesn't serve). Lamb patty – juicy, succulent, soft buns and perfect seasoning with some horse radish & onion relish – Mindblowing.

Wifey had the Smoked Cottage Cheese double burger: equally good and yum. Biwi khush toh hum khush ;)

For the mains: we ordered the Pan roasted veg ravioli and Peri peri rubbed grilled. The ravioli looked pristine, but tasted a little bland (could do with some additional seasoning). On the other hand, my chicken was perfectly cooked, superbly grilled with the peri peri mix and tasted Fab.

And lastly we went in for the house special: Panacotta, WOWOWOW!!! that's all I can say. Was wiped of in flat 10 seconds with neither mifey nor me uttering a word (as we were locked in an hoggers' battle to get the maximum bites) :P

A must place to visit for a good, hearty and high damaging meal ;)

Expensive but sooooooo good!

Just been once and dying to go back again! Ambiance is amazing, service is impeccable with personal attention, nobody hurrying you out or hovering around your table. Been here with daughter and ordered for a greek salad, an aglio olio spaghetti and a cottage cheese burger and food was presented with love and amazing Masterchef style presentation. Love everything about it,definitely expensive but worth it in the end! a treat for sure!

good food excellent service

smoke House Deli presents an all new egg special menu. The wonderful egg menu starts off with a bit of spice, as they serve the Mommy Style Akuri with fried bread & tangy tomato salsa. Things get hotter with Curry Benedict,

Consistently deliciouc delicacies

This place located in High street Phoenix is one of my Favorite . The food is consistently good.however I felt the portion size could be slightly increased.Plum Tomato soup is to die for. Excellent penne veg pasta perfectly flavored and creamy. Smoked cottage cheese double burger which consists of cheese, cottage cheese, lettuce, & sauces is surely not to be missed. All in all a great experience.

Good quality food, great art on walls

The walls are sketched upon. The tenderloin steak is best ordered medium-rare. The sandwich and soup combination is apt for a quick lunch. The salads here are great as well, very fresh and well dressed. The restaurant is located on ground level with only two steps at the entrance, which makes it fit to go to in case you're in the company of senior citizens.
The pricing is quite accurate, although most find it a little on the higher side. The chocolate flan dessert was the best I've ever eaten. Overall great food with friendly staff and lively vibe.
