I could just pronounce judgement by writing, the finest non-5 star hotel patisserie in town, but that would take away the pleasure of justifying the statement to all of you.
I've been following the Le15 story ever since they debuted in Lower Parel with 2 shops within a 100 mts of each other (at Good Earth and in Palladium) .Having heard a lot about the Cordon Bleu, Paris trained chef Pooja Dhingra, I used to frequent the Palladium outlet to gorge on the macaroons, till they came closer home to Bandra about a year back.
Not to put the other patisseries in town down, but I've frequently come across macaroons where the cookies are too crisp and brittle and extraordinarily sweet. My authority on that? Umm, I was born with an extra pair of sweet tooth maybe? Out here, semblance is the order of the day. They all look good, taste nice, and yes, you got to pay for quality, so they are a li'l more expensive than other places in Mumbai where you'd find one. Macaroons have been the trademark specialty of Le15 which bring me back over and over again. Try some of the off-beat flavours and tell me you did not like em. I like the Sea Salt macaroon the most, and the Paan, the Mint & Date and Hazelnut in no particular order after that.
I'm also a big fan of Red Velvet cakes, and ought to say this place is one of the the better one in Mumbai to deliver the goods on a nice Red Velvet cupcakes. Though I so wish they would also sell cake slice form of the Red Velvet in the future sometime. Again, try their various chocolate flavors, the Nutella one if you have a thing for Nutella or the Orange Dark Chocolate if you are happy to try contrasting flavors.
The latest addition to the menu has been the Choux pastries, which come in various flavors as well. I've tried the Chocolate Choux Pastry and more than once at that. Swing by, and try the stuff. I hope you'll love it as much as I do.
The beauty about being Le15 Bandra is also that this takes shape as a Parisian styled cafe with small seating indoors and outdoors, for you to be able to consume the products on the premises in a relaxed atmosphere. There is also coffee to go with it, if you so please, which is unique to this outlet and nowhere else.
On Tuesdays, you could also come by here in the evening for tasting other stuff from interesting kitchens around town which could be the next big thing on the Mumbai culinary scenario. Till then, enjoy their stuff.
