I used to regularly order sinful cakes from Desserts R Us for birthdays and other celebrations. So when it came to ordering a cake for a family engagement celebration - I really didn't do much field work and look for any options. Huge Mistake! And so I write this review to save the rest of you from a having a horrific experience similar to mine.
1. You're treated like crap (once you manage to gain acknowledgement)
I went by Hiroo Gidwani's office to place the order (which was for a fancy cake, 7 kgs) which obviously seems of no interest to her. She's conducting an employee training session (yelling at her staff) while I stand there trying to get her attention. Finally after about 10 minutes, I ask her point blank if she would like to accept this order or I'm leaving.
2. Can easily get ripped off
She wanted to charge me 3000 rupees for fresh flowers that she was going to use to decorate the cake stand. Did she think I was going to fall for that?
3. Delivery messed up
The cake was delivered to my residence in stead of the venue of the party! And was delivered late! And in a taxi (when it was promised to be delivered in an air-conditioned car so that the heat doesn't mess up the taste and I was charged 500 rupees for the delivery; about 7 kms distance) So, it reached late, the fondant icing had cracked and the cake had turned sour because the delivery boys were roaming around in the hot sun with the cake. And all this while, Hiroo had no idea what was happening and no one was appointed to take charge! So nobody ate the cake as it was left inedible!
I was utterly disgusted. When I received a call the next day to check if everything was okay, I detailed all of the above in a very nice, courteous manner only to hear that it can't be true! So an accusation to top it off! It really couldn't get worse.
Please do look elsewhere for cakes! Scratch Desserts R Us off your list. There are many nice places out there!
