Azad Hind Dhaba is famous for tow reasons.
One is the best Punjabi food they serve till midnight.
Second is their famous visitor- Hussain Shaab.
Yes!! Makbul Fida Hussain used to come here for a late night affair of Daal Tadka and Roti. It's not a tall claim, Fida Hussain gifted one of his work of art to this Dhaba, after he became Fida with their food!!
You go there in a group...eat whatever you can....and then get surprised with the amazingly low bill.
How can Calcutta have so many good joints that serve food at such a low price?

A late evening out with friends, after 11 pm, when most places in Calcutta close down. It's pretty famous with iconic stars having visited the place, an MF hussain original adorning the wall..
Has non A/c and A/c areas, family place, but fine for bunch of friends too.
Great with Indian food, serves nice lassi in a clay glass (kullar or sikoda as we call it)
Main course is pretty decent - we had paneer butter masala, malai kofta and some form of black dal.
The non veggies didn't particularly like their Chicken Korma, but were appreciative of other dishes.
6 people, full dinner, all for about 800 bucks. Neat, I'd say.
To top it off, there's an amazing Kulfi outlet right outside the restaurant which had amazing Sitaphal and Kesar Ilaichi kulfi, again served in a clay glass.
Good Cheap food overall
