  • Overrated..but good! :) 2012-05-09

This IS a kolkata institution, and I went there, again with my parents. The pastries were quite tasty, but hey..you get this sort of thing at 1/3 rd the price, at other confectioneries. The ambiance was really good, sort of old-kol feel to it! You have a view of Park Street, which is really nice.

One place that I heard as a must visit place before i came to Kolkata was Flurys, and it has truly proved why people call it a must visit place.
Its an amazing place to be at, hang out with friends, have a business meeting, chill out and have world class confectioneries, its a must go place.
i haven't yet tried the breakfast, but will try it sooner or later.
A little high on pocket but you get the best there.
The ambience is nice and classy.
Loved being there in will be there again.

Go here if you want to eat regular desserts/pastries for double/triple the price. I've been told that the Sunday mornin breakfast buffet is good here, but yet to try that.

  • Childhood Memories 2010-04-22

Flurys was always one of my must visit places in Kolkata since childhood. But off late something seems to have gone amiss.

I wish I could point it out. But the charm of Flurys is no longer there. Maybe the current generation like it, but as a part of a family who has patronised Flury's since it began, I was not satisfied.

  • Nothing Spectacular!!! 2010-01-08

Went their for deserts and were dismayed at the waiting. Anyways after a 15 minute wait we entered a dining area that was a mix of confused shawl clad people and pretentious 'deserters' who conducted themselves as members of Tollygunge.
Ordered the classic English style Tuna Sandwich that was strictly average along with a poached peach sundae that had a name a la elle-helle. That was good.
Must mention about a waiter who swerved his hands in a weird manner doing anything... from serving water to even cutlery. The kinds that make u smile :)

  • Lesser than Expected 2009-10-03

When you hear about the five generation legacy of flurys, it raises expectations. When I came to Kolkata, this was the first place I tried. The place looked very stylish, and is certified for it by the MTv Style Award. But sadly, the actual food did not live up to the reputation. The baked goods were average at the most. I tried most things on their confectionery counter, but all of them disappointed.
However, the rest of the food was okay. The omelets were nice. For the overall feel of the place, it is worth a try.

  • Flurry's breakfast lives upto its reuptation 2009-07-30

I had always heard about the famous Flurys breakfast. Having spent 3 years in Kolkata and not going once for that fabled breakfast looked like a crime to me. So on a beautiful Sunday morning four of us went for the Sunday Breakfast. Unfortunately lazy that we are we reached at around 9:30am for the breakfast. Didnt expect to stand in a queue to enter the place for breakfast. But had to stand for half an hour for a place. Just shows how popular the place is for breakfast. It definitely raised our expectation.

I always review a restaurant not on the food alone but on the overall experience

  • The Generational Touch 2009-06-08

It is almost impossible to miss this eatery on Park Street with its tall glass windows through which you can see the entire restaurant. It has got some really nice pastas on offer. I personally love their Lasagna. Service is usually a little slow but the food usually makes up for it. Don't leave once your done with your meal. Go to the pastry counter and try their wide selection of pastries. They are the ones you have heard of but really tasty. You can pack some too to take back home
