The Good One...

To go with the most delicious north Indian cuisine in town, the ambience is not bad either. Overlooking the largest traffic junction in town, this restaurant will make you drive through the traffic and come back for more.

Cling Film in Kulcha

I went to this restaurant on 24th August 2014 to enjoy my dinner considering BJN Group to be one of the reputed groups in the city. I ordered Aloo anardana kulcha for the maincourse and to my horror I found a large piece of cling film inside the kulcha (pic attached). The restaurant officials had the attitude of saying that the bill is waived off and simply wanted to get away with the issue. The staff was also not letting us talk to their senior officials regarding the same . They felt that by waiving off the bill they would do us a huge favour and that would compensate their fault, yet we insisted and paid for the bill though our evening was spoilt and we left our dinner in the middle.

So please visit this restaurant at your risk only as the unhygienic practices followed by them can lead to a health hazard for you and your loving family members.

Affordable Royal Delight!

This Train Themed restaurant is a Royal delight by BJN group. It has very rich cuisine and an ambience that makes you feel rich :) and yet the pricing is quite reasonable.
If you are confused between Khan Saab and Sahib Sindh Sultan, then let me assure you, SSS wins hands down!

Average Cost for 2 = Rs 600/-

Royal Feel in a Restaurant

Highly fancy decor. The interiors of the restaurant are inspired from the theme of Palace on Wheels. Visit this place for an experience which will make you feel as if you are in a palace. Many dishes would take your senses away and would leave you with an urge to visit this place again and again. Kakori kabeb, Babycorn Paneer Pyaza and Murg Peshawari are few of my fav dishes here. You need to be a little patient to get a seat here

Warning for first-time visitors: Make sure you enter empty stomach. You don't want to regret later.

Finger-licking taste, good serving portions, nice theme and great ambiance. That sums up this lace. The service is a bit slow, specially if you're repeating tandoor order. Yet, the other factors have the capacity to somewhat overshadow this shortcoming.

Royal Dining..!!

Sahib Sindh Sultan is quite unlike any other place you would have been too. There are very few places where the ambiance plays as important a role as here.

The rich royal silk decor and the silverware take you back in time & make you feel like a king. And the north-indian cuisine perfectly complements the setting. Order anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed but do not forget to indulge into one of the desserts which are truly special.

The experience of dining in a carriage-way is one you are not bound to forget easily!

Probably the best restaurant in HYD...

Everything about this place is first-rate...the ambiance is super-special, the food is out-of-this-world...mostly North Indian cuisine...but everything I have had there is nearly the best dish I have had of its kind in all of India. Rivals the food at the Falaknuma Palace. Perhaps a little pricey...but worth it!!

Quality has downgraded like anything

Been a while we visited this place. Always been a fan but proved to be utterly disappointed. The place was unclean. The table cloth were torn and hasnt been changed for ages. The waiters were inexperienced and they kept spilling water and food all over. The manager took the order and forgot items. The food was below par and considering the VAT and service charge the restaurant charges, the return is poor.

Please avoid this place as there are better places in hyderabad

It’s been a nice experience visiting sahib sindh sultan, it is has been the favorite place for the continental food. Unlike any other hotel we do no have the hassles of parking and the ambiance inside is quite familiar and friendly. We four of us have visited this place and all of us had different food to order, all of us were satisfied by the food they have offered. Worth For Money

This place was recommended by a friend of mine.something very different than usual restaurant but worth the money.
In Today's fast pace life you will find this place has good options to ease your tension & be care free.I spend jolly good time here.
Food and ambiance are fantastic and out of the world but you have to be on empty stomach or have very high appetite because of quality and quantity of food they serve.
Time went so fast that I felt to spend more time here...so not fully heart contended i decided to revisit in the evening with another bunch of my friends and they too were not disappointed by my choice. We had a total blast and fun.. good experience with Loving place :)

Nice option for eating out

I have been to Sahib Sindh Sultan many times and never get tired of it. It is a place with nice food, good ambiance and good service. The restaurant has been done up well with a classical British theme and "train bogey" being the star attraction.

The menu has plenty of options to choose from. The staff is courteous and well trained. The service is also not very slow as it is in some restaurants. However, I feel the food is on the spicy side and may not suit everyone's palette. Therefore I feel that the nearby Angeethi and Khan Saab are better options. But still, definitely worth a visit.

Pretty crowded...u might have to wait for sometime to get a seat..but believe me its worth it.
The ambiance is dazzling. A train and a platform ( nothing like in India) with a royal decor.
The train is a four seater with perfect comfy seating where you can dine in peace.
We ordered for some vegetarian and non veg starters, they were awesome.
The main course was delicious...Paneer is a must try.
Did not like the shorba much.
Desserts and drinks are equally good. The service is nice, even though the waiters seemed a bit busy.
Overall a really good experience, though a bit heavy on the pocket.

Wonderful place.. Must Visit

After reading good reviews and tempted by the "compartment like" ambience., we visited SSS today. We were there by 12:30pm. The lunch hour rush hadn't begun by then. We were received promptly and led to a table. The interiors were lovely. The platform like area was dimly lit. The coach was plush, well lit and tastefully done with leather couches. The service was very very courteous.

The elaborate menu provided ample options for vegetarians. Though it looked a bit expensive, the portions were huuggee.. The breadsticks and chutney appetizers were enough to nibble on before the soups came over. The kurikuri and panner reshmi kabaabs for starters left us licking our fingers.

The breads were very nicely made and the curries were huge portions too. Completely stuffed we were left with no room for desserts. So we'd have to go back for desserts. After the finger bowl, it was time for paan and the pan walah came in promptly.

After a hearty meal and a truly lovely outing.. We trudged out. Would definitely recommend this place and go back for more..

Degraded over the years

Between 2006 to 2008, I visited this place many times, and was always awed by three things-- the ambience, the food and the service. After a gap of almost three years, I visited again on Sept 2011, and found some remarkable changes.

The food and ambience is still great, even a notch above great. My only worry was with service. For each and every item we ordered, we had to wait for 30-40 minutes. We had to order for even beer, too (which, I believe, need no preparation time)-- and that also after complaining thrice.

Starters were good, but in main course we ordered a fish biriyani (among other dishes), and the fish was half-cooked. Upon showing that to the waiter, he went to fetch his manager. The manager appeared after some 20 minutes, and offered to replace it. The whole process (from ordering the biriyani to serve it, and then the manager's action to rplace it and finally eating the "cooked" biriyani) took 1 hr 15 minutes.

The 3 rating in this review is still for the food (which, apart from the fish biriyani, was "awesome") and ambience. The service, to say the least, is pathetic.

Recreating British Raj!

This restaurant is part of the BJN groups flagship authentic Indian restaurant in Hyderabad. The setting is perfect and they have stuck their wonderful delights of serving food pretty well... I actually fell in love as soon as I checked out the menu. Though they dont have much of an option in the rice menu, they have a pretty decent set of starters for everyone- Veg and NVeg alike. Would recommend this place a classy one for Indian food lovers in Hyd!

Mast decor and a mast-er food

Though I have been there many a number of times this place has never ceased to astonish me with a wide variety in their menus. Every time I come back from my hostel I relish the rich tastes that Sahib Sindh Sultan has to offer.
The decor and ambience is one of a kind, It is similar to the Silver train in Ohris just a of a bit older train... we have options of sitting on the platform or on the train and a nice mirror effect which makes the train seem endless :)
Mishkin Paya Shorba, mutton fat cooked and served with paya soup and Lemon Chicken Tikka, the perfect mixture of spices with a slight tinge of lemon heaven in the chicken...
The only partial disappoinment was the roasted chicken which was cooked just like butter chicken... It was made very well and no complaints about the taste but just that the name was misleading...

The bill for three came upto about RS 1300 ... a fair price to pay for such awesome food

Definitely OK but pricey..Not Value For Money

Ambiance is really good, especially if you are seated in the train.
The food is Just Ok and not as good as we expected.

We ordered spicy kebab (could not recall the exact name) and chicken Rajputana as main course
Kebab was good but not as soft as we expected and Rajputana was ok.
Garlic Nans were really horrible I need to pull it very hard to tear it.
The menu is really expensive and be ready to pay 24.5% extra (14.5% VAT + 10 Service charge).
Would suggest for only for one time experience for the ambiance . Otherwise I feel there are many restaurants which the same quality food at half the price.

The ambience, theme, service, authentic flavour... you name it, you get it... The essence of the theme they wanted to create has been very well brought to life coupled with excellent food and service.

Though the menu does not boast large variety, still whatever there is, is made to the perfection.

Coming to the pocket part, seems to be a bit heavy on it, but the quantity and quality of food discounts all.

One of the Best!!!!

Heard a lot about this place and finally went there for dinner last night. The Place is spectacular...right from the ambience to the food and the service.

Starting with the ambience...they have copied the theme from the Silver Metro restaurant in Ohri's Basheerbagh but have managed to make the place look really beautiful.

Coming to the food......We started off with a Paneer Tikka i think and it was amazing.Cooked in a whitish kind of sauce with cheese it was one of the tastiet paneer dishes ive ever had. Then came the corn and cheese fritters.OH MY WORD it was amazing...the cheese paired with corn is just so exquisite,i could have kept eating it all night long.

Then came the main course....Paneer Multani and Subz vilayati.Again the paneer was the winner for me,it was again cooked with cheese in a tomato gravy.

One complaint though..the breads were a bit rubbery and could have been better. The veg pulao was also not all that great. You guys should really consider adding a veg biryani to your rice section.

But otherwise,2000 bucks for a dinner for 4.....Totally worth it!!!!!!!

Great ambience and food

I’d been here with my family on my wedding anniversary. The ambience was good and food tasted well too. We preferred the starters over the main course (specially the meat was little rough and became extremely chewy, thought the gravy in which it was cooked was yummy). It is a bit over the expensive side (especially the wine or cocktails), but once in awhile, I guess it’s ok to be in such places too. A word of caution, please make sure you reserve your table at least an hour before you want to dine on weekdays and a day / few hours in advance as the place gets filled up pretty soon. There are two options of sitting, one is inside the train compartment and the other outside of it (platform). I would personally suggest, it is best sitting inside the train which keeps the kids (and elders) engrossed with interiors (at least for a while). One small glitch though sitting inside the compartment will does have the limitation of provision of baby chair (because of the space constraint and layout, it is only provided in the platform).

Been there a couple of times and food is quite delicious. Their highlight dish is Lal Maas which is simply delectable and very spicy.

However, do note all their dishes start from Rs.250 and go up much higher so its an expensive place and meant only for special occasions or for people with fat wallets :)

BJN group restuarant hardly disappoints in terms of food quality. So even this restuarant lives up to their group name and serves very good food

Expensive deal

nice ambience & quality of the food was good...But i would say that it's quite expensive...I haven't thought that i would end up paying 1200 bucks for 2 shorbas (we can't order 1/2 or 3/4 soup it seems) with 1 veg starter + 5 butter naans with 1 veg curry (no desserts + no mineral water)... for the same menu in any other restaurant like "our place" i probably would have ended up paying 800 bucks at the max...the prices are atleast 50% more than the normal pricing...i haven't thought that i will have to pay 200 bucks for a starter that gives only 2 (relatively small) pieces per head...well, if you are a real foodie and want to eat like crazy, then don't go to this place...else you would be sorry after looking at the bill....

Take a trip back in time!!!

Situated on the top floor of the Citi Centre Mall, BJN group’s Sahib Sindh Sultan is another one of those theme restaurants that are becoming all so popular these days. The setting in this case is an old pre-independence train with the waiters all dressed up as railway personnel! How cool is that! The restaurant screams opulence and is reminiscent of the famous “Palace on Wheels”. Everything from the ambience to the food, not to mention the service, is top class. The non-alcoholic speciality beverages and the Dal Makhani deserve a special mention. The regular paneer dishes and kebabs are also quite good. If you are one of those who need a peg or two before or after a grand meal then fear not, they also serve alcohol. Needless to say, the place is quite expensive and if you or not in one of those generous moods, you might want to re-consider visiting it. This restaurant is a little bit of a favourite among many foodies and it is advisable to make reservations before you head out for a nice meal especially on weekends. Just a gentle word of caution; the place in itself seemed really quite the evening I visited it. Perhaps because of the overwhelming experience the decibel levels of the guests were quite low. So, if you are planning to visit it as a group with lots of daaru shaaru and hulla gulla in mind, you might want to consider other options. This is a really classy restaurant, an ideal place for, maybe, a first date!!!

Aboard a Vintage train

Sahib Sindh Sultan is situated in the top floor of City Centre Mall in Banjara Hills Hyderabad. I visited it along with my family on 14th August evening.

I had heard that usually in this restaurant, you have to wait for a long time to get a table. I had called the restaurant in the afternoon and was told they do not take any reservation. I was told that if I land up latest by 8:30 PM, I should get a table without much wait.

We reached by 8 PM. As we entered we were in a station platform. There was a full length mirror on one side of the platform which gave it a much longer look. The platform had tables for seating and lo next to it was a train compartment. We took a table inside the compartment. Since it is a theme restaurant, it is important that you look around to bask in the ambience. In the compartment the overhead racks had old suitcases and British hats. The waiters and stewards were dressed as railway personnel. Outside from the platform if you peek above the train you can see stars as in a real station. The platform has an old telephone and a old railway map to add to the ambience.

The menu book makes interesting reading. It gives the introduction to the oldest train in Asia with 3 engines named Sahib, Sindh and Sultan. The menu is comprehensive with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes with names like the Kanpur Tomato Shorba and Chicken Dak Bungalow.

We ordered Mishkin Paya Shorba, a mutton paya soup. It was thick, creamy and extremely tasty. Main course were Shikampuri (Mutton) Kababs (made of minced mutton). Being Bengalis we just could not resist the Fish Tikka A La Lord Rippon. Finally we had Rajputana Lal Maans (Mutton Gravy – spicy, hot and delicious) with an assortment of Parathas. The food was served on a silver tray in line with the overall décor.

The service was quite fast, though in a place like this you do not mind it to be slightly slow so that you can sink in the ambience. My only request to this place is that they should accept advance reservations. Prices are not too expensive, the bill for three adults was around Rs 1200.

As we were taking our leave we made up our mind to revisit soon to try out some more of the different dishes.

An experience in dining

Amazing ambience, good service and authentic food which in my opinion is reasonably priced. What else can ask from a great restaurant? Sahib Sind Sultan is an experience in dining.

The Sikhampuri kabab is divine. Kakori kabab is as mouth watering as it's history mentions.

Try the fiery Rajputana maans and u would be able to appreciate the history of the bravest warriors of India.

Very different from the usual Hyderabdi Biryani the Parathwali Biryani is an experience in itself.

The stuffed parathans are amazing (special mention is the Lal Mirchi Parantha (How was it - fiery).

But the Pièce de résistance has to be the Shorba in the beginning. The paaya Shorba and the Vulcan Foundry Shorba are to die for. Jhinga pulao is a recommendation.

The cocktails are not exhaustive but they can do with some more varieties and names.

Another feather in the BJN cap.

Having spent decades in Bangalore, the BJN group of hotels has become a trustworthy name for me. With an entire floor of my favorite BJN hotels in City centre mall, I was overjoyed!

Sahib Sindh Sultan also, keeps up to the traditional high quality expectations in BJN style. Terrific interiors, good / authentic food and satisfactory service invites me to this restaurant over and over again. I must agree with my foodie buddy that their Karara Palak chaat is a must-have! Loved most of the other vegetarian dishes there as well. I expect no less from their non-vegetarian menu as well, though thats to be explored as yet.

But, whatever happened to the concept of reservations??!?! Much as I adore this place, I will NOT wait for over an hour to be seated, when there is a tried and tested concept of reserving a table! Reservations work and work well when treated with responsibility. The only thing disappointing with these Hyderabad branches is the decision to abandon reserving tables. I hope someone is listening!

Good food Great Ambience

Sahib Sindh Sultan never fails... The entire ambience they have created of a train in pre-independence times with the costumes the waiters wear are quite interesting. The food is amazing too.

You might have to book in advance to get a seat at this place. I saw people waiting outside for a seat till almost closing time. Not surprising considering the quality of food.

The drinks might need a special sniffer to test the alcohol content though... Probably cos they dint want people getting smashed up and ignoring their yummy food. Good North Indian Food and good variety too...
Try the fish biryani. Slightly different from other fish biryani's I've had but a good one nevertheless

what surprised me most was the prices. I'd expected it to be a lot more expensive.
Dinner for two including drinks came to 1200. Good deal I must say.

Enjoy the experience!
