Taste of Spice

Rayalaseema Ruchulu is one of my favorites in town. I have been their number of times, I Love their wide range of Non-Veg. dishes. They have lot of varieties like Chicken, Mutton, Rabbit, Kamju, Prawns, Fish and etc. They are also famous for their Natukodi Pulusu combination with Ragi sangati & Jonna Roti.

Lovely!

As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I noticed that it was full on a Weekday noon! That had to say something about the restaurant. My expectations were high and I blindly ordered whatever the Manager there recommended, RR Special Prawns and Chicken pulao, lovely! The food was served hot in quick 20 minutes and the taste was delightful! I have nothing bad to say about the restaurant but for the ambiance. Which I completely understand, because their top priority was quality of food and service, which was brilliant.

Authentic Andhra Cuisine

I was looking for a different kind of south Indian restaurant. I had enough of the idly dosa’s and it was time to explore the cuisine. A friend recommended Rayalaseema Ruchulu for the variety it displays in its menu, and true he was. I had never even heard of most of the dishes but the waiters were patient and enthusiastic enough to explain the preparations and recommend the specialties. So I tried the Andhra style Pulao which I felt was better than most of the biryani varieties available in the city, along with Naatu Kodi Iguru which blew my mind away. Awesome food and brilliant service. The ambience was nothing extravagant but it fit the bill and the overall experience was of top quality.

Best Andhra Food

This is the original Rayalseema Ruchulu outlet.

The waiters are courteous and responsive and tables are usually available here without any waiting time unless you go on weekend rush hours.
The restaurant is primarily famous for it's:

1.Ragi Sangeti Ragi Mudda (which was basically steamed Ragi, a type of millet, mashed with steamed rice ghee and some chilly powder into balls... resembled slightly flavoured mashed rice balls),
which is to be had with

2. Natu Kodi Pulusu (Country Chicken curry in a slightly tangy gravy)...

They also serve Vepudu/fry of all types of fish meat which mean the masala fried variant.

I personally strongly recommend the Kundelu Vepudu here .... which is unique and won’t be found in most other Hyderabad restaurants.

Also, they have an amazing mutton biryani where the boneless mutton is in a mashed stringy form and absolutely melts in your mouth. It's the best biryani sort of dish I had in Hyderabad. The proper name I think is Mamsam Pulao.

And also, there are the traditional andhra favorites like Cheppala pulusu, Gongura chicken or mutton curry and also the Thalkaya Mamsam.

Overall, a good experience for Andhra food if you have no idea about this cuisine... just visit to any Rayalaseema Ruchulu Restaurants in Hyderabad. Overall I rate this restaurant as follows:-

Food: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 8/10

Grate Food, Grate Taste & Grate Range of Dishes

The menu had a wide range of non-vegetarian food from different places of Andhra/Rayalaseema/Telangana regions. But to taste them of all the non-vegetarian dishes, you may need to go back again and again to Rayalaseema Ruchulu Restaurants (RRR).

The interiors are good and simple, the napkins and the tables are clean. The waiters are quick and help you in choosing the right dishes which suites to your taste. Food is yummy and it is served quickly. I suggest you to make prior reservations on weekends to avoid the waiting time.

The Natu Kodi Pulusu is a specialty here. It is basically a curry made of country chicken. The Kodi (or chicken) pulao is different from the Biryani/pulao type of rice dishes available in Hyderabad. It is hot and spice (spice depends upon the customer choice). It comes with a Mirchi Ka Salan and Raita. I have had Andhra style Biryani in other popular restaurants in Hyderabad, but this one really tastes different.

Ragi Sankati and Gongura Mamsam (Gongura Mutton) are another dishes, which may not be available in most of the Hyderabad restaurants, but it must have in this restaurant.

Overall I rate this restaurant as follows:-

Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value for money: 4/5
Service: 4/5

Desi food which makes you crave for more

Located in the busiest place of hyderabad - Lakdi-ka-pul This place is very special and the desi food available here simply superb. I had a rough idea on rayalaseema delicacies and when I entered the restaurant, the ambiance was very good. The menu was big and has many items which I never heard of. We have ordered the most famous "Ragi sankati" with "natu kodi pulusu" which were finger licking good. Than we ordered chicken pulao which was also pretty good. The service was pretty slow but its worth the wait :). My final word is Visit this place for a sumptuous meal !!

Amazingly spicy andhra food... my favorite in Hyd

I first visited this place in October 2009 when I went to Hyderabad for a short trip. My friends told me that this place has one of the spiciest food in the town and we wanted to try it out as we being Andhraites, challenge each other on how much spicy food we can handle! We went to this particular outlet as we heard this is the original outlet and wanted to get the real flavors. I liked the ambiance as its walls adorned pictures of many film stars who had visited the place but was a little cramped for space. I enjoyed the amazing flavors of rayalaseema food though! We went on a hot afternoon and after a short wait, we got a table. We wanted to try out some specialties of the place so we asked the steward who suggested us to try out Natu Kodi fry, Gongura Mutton and Kundelu Vepudu. We asked for extra spicy versions of all the dishes as we wanted to challenge our taste buds to see how much spice they can handle. Believe me, the food is really spicy!! We were sweating inside the AC and almost our noses started running but we were enjoying the wonderful local tastes and flavors! We tried the food with Jowar roti (Jonna Rotti) just the way it is had in the villages of Rayalseema and this accentuated our experience. The only vegetarian friend among us didn't feel left out though as there were some authentic vegetarian dishes like Ulavacharu and Gutti Vankaya kura which he felt captured the essence of the cuisine in a delightful manner. We finished off the wonderful meal with Gulab Jamun in a bowl of ice cream which was a fitting end to our gastronomical journey!

Andhra food... for first timers to the cuisine.

This is the original Rayalseema Ruchulu outlet. It was also the first one I dined at since I wanted to dine at the main outlet first to get maximum variety and exposure, However that mirage will disappear quickly as you begin to realize that being the first outlet it is also the oldest and has far lesser space and far less classy ambience than the other more recent outlets of the same restaurant.

There is one advantage to going to this particular though which is that I have generally found this outlet to always have stock of even the rarer items on the menu... whereas the other 2 I have tried (Himayat Nagar & Jubilee Hills) frequently run out of rare and uncommon dishes like rabbit if you go latter in the day.

The waiters are courteous and responsive and tables are usually available here without any waiting time unless you go on weekend rush hours. The seating and ambience appears a bit cramped though.

They also serve Vepudu of all types of fishmeat which mean the masala fried variant.

I personally strongly recommend the Kundelu Vepudu here (which is like Rabbit in fried nuggets form - except it still has bones )... which is unique and wont be found in most other Hyderabadi restaurants.

Also, they have an amazing mutton biriany where the boneless mutton is in a mashed stringy form and absolutely melts in your mouth. It's the best biriany sort of dish I had in Hyderabad. The proper name I think is Mamsam Pulao.

And also, there are the traditional andhra favourities like Cheppala pulusu, Gongura chicken or mutton curry and also the Thalkaya Mamsam.

It was slightly on the expensive side with each of the above dishes coming for around 200-300 rupees. But a count of one dish per person should be more than enough for even those who eat a lot since the quanitity is very large!

Overall, a good experience for Andhra food if you have no idea about the cuisine... (the waiters will be very helpful and can explain in hindi each and every dish in great detail)... but if you already know about the dishes you like from the cuisine or famous dishes there are other cheaper places not too far off.

Food: 7/10
Ambience: 3/10
Service: 5/10
Cost: 650/- for 2.
