Yay!! I like sushi :)

I've wanted to try sushi for a very long time. More so, because I always wondered, if I would like that kind of food. After few weeks of research on Zomato, I found Teppan to be the safest bet.

Considering the steep prices, I waited for a special occasion to visit Teppan. When I finally went, I was excited, apprehensive, fearful(what if I didn't like sushi) all at the same time.

The interiors were pleasant. Since it was a Monday afternoon, the restaurant wasn't crowded. We were seated at the live table. It was a shared table like the ones we see in American sit coms. Even though we shared a table, none of us were robbed of a private dining experience.

Moving onto the food, the maitre'd helped us in picking the right set menu based on our tastes and preferences.
We chose a combination set menu that consisted of a chicken salad, maki rolls, chicken soup, mixed meat fried rice, chicken breasts, grilled basa fillet and 5 desserts. Apart from the set menu, we ordered a kaki age maki and a burnt garlic fried rice.
That was a lot. First the chicken salad arrived. The chicken salad was crunchy, sweet and oh so delicious. Next origami maki and kaki age maki arrived. On its side was a dark soya sauce and a pinch of wasabi. Man, the wasabi has such a distinct taste which all of us liked.
The maki rolls were absolutely stunning. I overcame my fear and love the sushi rolls. The maki rolls had so many layers and so many different textures to it. But it all came together and I felt like Yay!!!! I like sushi :)
The chef makes the main dishes live. Chicken breasts were okay. Somehow none of us enjoyed the sauce it was cooked it in. However the grilled basa fillet was succulent and juicy. It was a melt in the mouth.
We were too full when the mixed meat fried rice and burnt garlic fried rice arrived. The mixed meet fried rice was good, burnt garlic fried rice was very average.
How can you say no to desserts even when you are full. From their dessert range, my pick would be Italian cheese cake and chocolate mousse.

Overall it was a very fine dining experience. Everyone must try sushi, even vegetarians. Teppan has a wide range of vegetarian maki rolls. I specifically tried kaki age maki to see how Teppan fared in vegetarian sushi. You will love it.
